What is included in my membership at Hive Pediatrics?

-Routine unrushed well child exams as recommended by the AAP-Unlimited visits for acute care usually same or next day-Management of chronic medical conditions such as ADHD, asthma, eczema, constipation and others-Access to me via text/email/phone call including evenings and weekends-Remote visits/virtual care-Camp, sports and school forms-Developmental and age appropriate screens-Parenting support and guidance-In office testing including Strep, Flu, Covid, and Urine-In office care such as breathing treatments or oral Decadron

What is direct primary Care?

Direct primary care (DPC) is medicine the way it should be! A partnership between patient and doctor that is not influenced by the constraints of the insurance system. This allows for more accessible and flexible care as well as longer appointment times and little waiting. Through membership at Hive Pediatrics and a limited patient panel, you will experience this level of care.

Does my child still need insurance?

Accepted Answer

All of your medical needs at Hive Pediatrics are covered by your affordable monthly membership.  However, insurance is encouraged to cover specialist care or emergency care if needed. It can also be used for laboratory or pharmacy services and will be used to cover vaccines given at Hive.  A high deductible plan or a med share plan is a great option to pair with DPC membership.

How do I pay for membership?

Membership dues will be charged automatically each month to the bank account or credit card on file. Annual payment is also encouraged and will have a 10% discount applied.  HSA/FSA cards are also accepted; however please verify with your specific insurance provider.  If grandparents or other loved ones would like to gift membership to the children in their family, their own bank account or credit care information can be put on file.

What about vaccines?

As a pediatrician, I strongly value the work of vaccines in preventing disease in our children and our communities. I recommend the childhood vaccine schedule as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics. I also value each family’s autonomy and am happy to engage in productive conversations and answer questions related to vaccines. I will not limit membership at Hive Pediatrics based on your vaccine choices.

Is there a cancellation policy?

You may choose to cancel your membership at any time.  A 30 day written cancellation notice is required.

Can I schedule a Meet and Greet?

Absolutely! Hive Pediatrics is an excellent model for providing high quality direct pediatric care.  Since this is different from a typical insurance-based practice, a meet and greet is strongly encouraged to allow us to get to know one another and to understand more about the Hive difference.

Is there financial assistance available?

As a practicing community pediatrician over the past 15 years, I have had the wonderful opportunity to serve many families across a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, and I love my patients no matter what their background.  If finances are a hurdle to membership, please contact me to have a conversation about options.

Question 9

What happens if my child gets sick and we are out of town?

Accepted Answer

With the direct access to me through your membership at Hive Pediatrics, we can communicate while you are out of town and determine the right course of treatment for your child. Prescriptions can be called into a pharmacy (within the United States) or coordination for further care can be made if this option is necessary.

Question 10

What happens if Dr. Navarrette is on vacation?

I will provide ample notice for times that I will be out of town and aim to have a clear plan in place if an urgent issue arises for your child.

Hive Pediatrics will provide unmatched kind, intentional and thoughtful care for every child in a well or sick setting. When unexpected injuries or illnesses occur, the peace of mind knowing that you can reach your pediatrician for guidance and treatment is invaluable.   No phone trees, No waiting for call backs, No urgent care referrals- Just care from your pediatrician. For wellness visits, every concern will be addressed in a relaxed no rush setting.  And for those times that questions come up outside of a set appointment time, you can text or email me. I’m happy to help!
